VALORANT: Oxygen Esports in discussion with European player

Multiple sources tell Dot Esports that North American company Oxygen Esports is in talks to recruit European VALORANT player Malkolm #bonkar Rench.

In order to take over as Oxygen’s head coach, Bonkar is willing to end his career as a professional athlete. Preston #Juv3nile Dornon, the current head coach will be replaced.

The VALORANT Challengers League matchup between Oxygen and Shopify Rebellion will take place tonight. Bonkar will debate tonight as Oxygen’s head coach. Oxygen still has a tough path after their encounter against one of the top teams in the North American league. Over the next few weeks, the team will compete the against teams like G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, and Turtle Troop.

After three years, Bonkar gives up professional VALORANT competition. He spent a fair amount of time with Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2020 before moving on to Guild Esports, where he stayed for over a year until late 2021.

At April of that year, in the VCT 2021: Europe Stage 2 Challenges 1, Bonkar and his team came in second, while he was still employed by Guild. In the championship game, FunPlus defeated Guild.

Since their first encounter versus BreakThru in the Challengers league, Oxygen has had trouble building momentum. The opponents scored two back-to-back victories. Despite being down 9-3 on both, Ascent and Breeze, at the half, BreakThru defeated Oxygen 2-0.

With a round advantage, Oxygen currently hold a small lead over FaZe and Turtle Troop in Group A.
