Despite placing fourth at the Six Invitational 2023, after losing to the eventual champions G2 Esports, #Astralis today announced they are exiting professional Siege.
According to Astralis’ announcement, circumstances for maintaining a healthy team organization have gotten worse.
The circumstances for managing a wholesome team structure in Rainbow 6 have considerably worsened as a consequence of the growth of the league agreement. Astralis regretfully reveals today that it will no longer be a member of Rainbow 6 and will instead continue to play in the North American league.
Anders Horsholt, CEO of Astralis said
We entered into Rainbow 6 and the North American League with high ambitions and the best of intentions, and our US organization has done everything humanly possible to meet these ambitions. However, despite the dedicated and extremely loyal efforts of everybody involved, the development and lack of prospects in the league regrettably make it impossible for us to continue.
We appreciate all the efforts made, but unfortunately, we did not find a solution where we could continue operations while meeting our obligations and standards regarding working conditions for our staff and players.
It has been truly amazing to feel the passion for the game among the fans and everybody involved. Thank you to everybody involved who made our time in Rainbow six something truly special.
When Astralis entered Rainbow Six Siege in September, 2021, the Danish company had just acquired Disrupt Gaming’s lineup. The R6 Share products from Disrupt Gaming have now been re-added to the store.
In 2022, Astralis were Six Charlotte Major grand-finalists, and placed in top four teams at the Six Invitational in 2023. Additionally, Astralis won the North American League 2022 after finishing first in Stages 1 and 2 back-to-back.
Following in the footsteps of TSM, the 2022 global champion organization, Astralis is the second significant organization to have recently left the NAL. Likewise, Parabellum Esports and Mirage released their players, and XSET recently sold the team’s squad to M80.
It will be very interesting to see if one of the biggest esports organizations will change their decision in the future, and return to the very top of the Rainbow six competition
