Rainbow 6 Siege – The Six Invitational 2023 Comes Back To Canada, as Team BDS Earns Their Spot in the Tournament

Finally, The Six Invitational 2023, the prestigious annual world championship for Rainbow Six Siege esports, will return to its original location in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

For the final three days of the exhibition, from February 17 to 19, SI 2023 will also welcome a live audience within the familar Place Bell. This will be SI's first live audience since the similar event in Montreal in 2020.

BDS Claiming One of the Last Spots

Thanks to a fortunate group draw, Team BDS has now became the ninth team to qualify for the Six Invitational in 2023.

While Rogue's loss to Heroic prevented them from qualifying earlier, BDS has benefited from the Six Jönköping Major group stage draw.

Liquid, Sandbox, and Heroic are the three teams that must make the playoffs in order to gain enough SI Points to pass BDS. They are all in the same group. This means that just seven other teams may surpass BDS's SI Point total because one of them will fall short of that mark.

They received their qualification following a difficult year that began with an early exit from SI 2022. The Frenchmen later finished tied for first in Europe in the Charlotte Major, but they were unable to advance to the Berlin Major. Since BDS initially began competing in the Challenger League, this was the only occasion they have ever missed.

Oh, Canada!

Due to Canadian regulations, Ubisoft was unable to stage the annual tournament in Montreal as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, which started to ban LAN and offline competition in esports just a few months after the completion of SI 2020. The event was originally held in Montreal, the North American headquarters of Ubisoft, from 2017 to 2020.

For the first time, SI 2021 was held in May in Paris, France, with no attendees at all. Due to France's travel limitations, many Brazilian teams almost didn't make it that year. Nevertheless, two Brazilian teams made it to the grand finals, where NiP defeated Team Liquid. TSM claimed a shocking victory at SI 2022, which was hosted in Stockholm, Sweden, this past February, giving NA its second SI trophy in three years.

The Siege Global Standings, which gives points to teams based on their accomplishments at regional league splits and the Majors, is the main method used to determine qualification for SI 2023. Eight teams have already qualified directly. Wolves Esports, Rogue, and G2 will represent Europe, DarkZero, Astralis, XSET, and Oxygen will represent North America, and w7m esports is the only team currently representing Brazil.

At the Jönköping Major, which starts on Nov. 21, a number of notable teams, like Team BDS, Liquid, FURIA, FaZe, Soniqs, and others, will try to secure their seats at SI 2023. Four more teams from regional qualifiers will complete the 20-team field for SI 2023 after the season is over.
