In today's #LCS week four matchup, it would have been a bold assumption to predict that the LCS bottom-of-the-pack, 0-6 #Dignitas team would be so difficult for #Cloud9. However, for a significant portion of the early game, it seemed as though the league's worst squad may have been able to do the improbable and pull off the biggest surprise in pro League this year.
Cloud9 moved to 5-2 after working things out with a string of crucial mid-to-late-game teamfight victories, which allowed them to stay in a tie for second place.
The Quick Recap
Dignitas and Cloud9 battled it out in today's match for 17 minutes, with Dignitas maintaining a solid gold advantage over Cloud9 courtesy to bottom lane revenge kills and the first noticeable signs of Armut and Santorin's topside teamwork.
Early in the game, Dignitas held serve against C9 and carried a lead of around 4,000 gold into the 15-minute mark.
After that, though, Cloud9 reached their groove, as their Lucian-Nami combo in the bottom lane came online and put Dignitas in the ground. The versatile team of Berserker and Zven played Lucian-Nami for the first time this season, and they used the pairing to the utmost, combining for a score of 8/2/20.
IgNar, the starting support for Dignitas, made his team debut on the other side of the bottom lane following three weeks of difficulties with his visa.
He managed a respectable kill under tower on Zven during the laning phase, but otherwise had little effect as Dignitas were completely shut down by Cloud9 throughout the game after failing to take advantage of a strong start.
Although Cloud9 was anticipated to win this game, the fact that Dignitas seemed to have a chance before things went south might be a good sign for a team that has yet to record a victory.
What’s Next?
Dignitas will play games this week versus Golden Guardians and TSM to finish their schedule. They continue to be the only major area League team without a victory this year.
Hopefully, they will be able to find their mojo and bounce back from this horrible run. Even though the chances of winning any titles this year are close to non-existent, at least they can do is save their dignity and look to correct their mistakes while preparing for the next season.
