The quarter-finals are officially over, and EA Sports FIFA 23 Cup has just gotten way more interesting.
In our last report regarding this tournament, we wrote about the group dynamics and how well the teams did, based on their performances, stats, and previously set expectations. At the time of writing this article, four more squads had to pack their bags and leave the tournament, leaving the remaining four with high hopes for the next round and the pulsating dream of raising the championship trophy.
Let’s go back for a moment and analyze some of the matches, while also trying to predict the outcomes for what’s coming.
Complexity Gaming vs PSG Esports
This matchup was one of the most highly anticipated ones within the round. Nobody was able to tell for sure what would happen as neither team managed to gain the absolute favorite status.
The matchup was full of tension until the very end, but Complexity was able to pull off a 4-3 win. They will face Fnatic in the semi-finals.
Fnatic vs RBLZ Gaming
Moving on to the second matchup of the quarter-finals, this game was not one of the most exciting as Fnatic did not have much trouble earning their way to the victory. RBLZ Gaming did make a nice breakthrough coming all the way from the group stage to reach the elimination round, but nobody expected them to beat the Goliath that Fnatic was compared to them.
After the opening minutes, it was more than obvious that there was a big quality gap between the teams, which resulted in a dominant 8-1 victory for Fnatic.
Team FUTWIZ vs Riders
The third matchup of the quarter-finals was a much-needed dose of excitement after the dominance exhibited by team Fnatic. Neither team was willing to open their formation, fearing a quick counter-attack, which resulted in a low number of goals scored.
However, there was no lack of action since the game was filled with really promising chances, plenty of outsmarting and tactical warfare. Considering that neither of the teams had an easy path to the quarter-finals, it was truly sad to see one of them have to exit the tournament, especially after showing similar skill levels.
Considering that neither of the teams had an easy path to the quarter-finals, it was truly sad to see one of them have to exit the tournament, especially after showing similar skill levels. In the end, Team FUTWIZ rightfully celebrated their 2:1 win, which made them eligible to play TG.NIP in the semi-finals.
Team Fokus vs TG.NIP
The fourth and the last matchup of the stage ended in favor of the expected team to win, but it was not as easy as everyone predicted. Although they lost, Team Fokus gave TG.NIP a run for their money, fighting all the way until the very end.
After earning their spot in the semi-finals with their 4:3 win, TG.NIP will face Team FUTWIZ and try to reach the finals, a target they've set before the first whistle was blown.
