Many of us have enjoyed the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, and there were plenty of comments describing it as one of the best football competitions ever. Unfortunately, the wait until the next big event will be long, so we are lucky to have somewhere to turn to for some high-quality football action – FIFA 23 EA Sports Cup!
The first part of the tournament started from the 17th of October and lasted until the 5th of December when the Group Stage was finalized and the survivors were officially announced for the Quarterfinals phase.
Twenty of the most highly skilled FIFA teams battled their way into the top 8, where they will be fighting for the glory of the Champion's status, and a tremendous monetary reward from the $250,000 prize pool.
The Qualified Teams
While 20 great teams started the tournament as contenders, only 8 of them found their way to the first elimination round. Divided into 4 groups, every team had to play eigth matches in total, twice against each opponent from the group, which is considered to be a very tough format.
Group A was among the toughest since all of the teams were very similar in terms of skills, so the nuances were a deciding factor in plenty of games. The first place was claimed by Complexity Gaming who managed to get 4 wins, 3 ties, and only 1 loss, while the second place went to team TG.NIP with 3 wins, 5 ties, and no losses.
What followed next was quite a surprise, since everyone predicted that Guild Esports would be one of the teams from Group B to advance to the next round. However, that did not happen thanks to RBLZ Gaming which had an amazing run with 6 wins, 2 ties and 0 losses, and team FUTWIZ with 3 wins, 4 ties, and 1 loss.
Group C was one of the easiest to predict, filled with two huge favorites that would turn out to meet everyone's expectations. Riders finished first with 5 wins, 2 ties, and only 1 loss, while Fnatic settled for the runner-up place with 3 wins, 3 ties, and 2 losses.
Finally, Group D had the most well-known names, but it didn't turn out to be full of fireworks and surprises. Team Fokus took the leading spot with 4 wins, 2 ties and 2 losses, while PSG Esports trailed behind them with 3 wins, 4 ties, and 1 loss.
