At BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023, Heroic defeated Evil Geniuses in the consolidation final to finish their lower bracket run. After losing to the North American team in their opening round of the competition, Casper #cadiaN Moller’s men got revenge against them, and they are now only one match away from qualifying for the Spring Final.
Heroic will now face Vitality in group A’s final, which will be played on Wednesday at 18:30. The winner will advance to the season final, and the loser will be sent to the gauntlet. Heroic has a great record versus the French organization, with their most recent loss being in the matchup in October 2020.
Evil Geniuses hardly beat Heroic earlier in the tournament, but they failed to repeat their form in today’s match despite a strong start on Nuke (16-9), losing on Overpass (2-16) and Mirage (5-16). After the defeat, they will play Complexity in the gauntlet, setting up an all-North American derby for Friday at 15:00.
The Match Recap
Heroic struggled to continue on their early offensive success and collapsed against a force buy conceding to a stuck defuse on the lower site. The North Americans only lost one more round before the half, dominating Heroic eleven times in a row, as they led 12-3 at the break. Sanzhar #neaLaN Ishkakov set the bar high by switching sides with 1.92 rating, while Jadan #HexT Postma made light of the Danes on the A bombsite.
Heroic once more got off a strong start in their half, but despite stavn’s best attempts to keep them in the game, they were unable to turn their success into a comeback. Heroic was given a chance to survive thanks to a 1v3 clutch from the young rifler, but the North Americans swiftly ended it with a pistol attack on the A bombsite, to win it 16-9.
Heroic lost to Evil Geniuses in their opening match by a sharp margin, but today they came back in much better shape. Heroic gave Daniel #Vorborg Vorborg’s team the same treatment they received on Nuke and cruised through their 13-2 defensive half on Overpass without any difficulty.
The Closing Rounds
During the second map, the shouting between two teams intensified as #cadiaN attempted to rally his team following the loss, and it went successfully. Heroic dominated throughout the whole match and evened out the series 16-2.
Two teams exchanged rounds in the early stages of Mirage before Heroic became the obvious favorite after a sequence of commanding defensive victories. They were led by another outstanding effort from #stavn who had 1.79 rating alongside a 19-7 K-D and 124.4 ADR after the 12-3 half.
After switching sides, Evil Geniuses finally triumphed in the series’ opening pistol round, but Heroic swiftly countered with a push on the B site, regaining the upper hand over the North Americans. From then, the Danes had an easy ride as they won 2-1 and secured the map by a score of 16-5.
