The variety of weapon loadouts will be for sure welcomed by the fans. In a brand-new video released today, Infinity Ward provides some fresh information on the modifications coming to the Gunsmith in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The latest intelligence release highlights the Gunsmith's updated user interface and delves further into weapon platforms, often known as a weapon's “family.”
The example offered is leveling up the M4 till you unlock the M16 receiver in order to illustrate how the new Receiver attachment slot will unlock various weapons within the family.
Gunsmith 2.0 – What is new?
The M16 will then be able to employ the modifications you've already unlocked for the M4, and so on. This essentially reduces the amount of grinding required to obtain unique attachments for weapons belonging to the same family.
According to Infinity Ward chief artist Ben Garnell, “the receiver this time is driving gunsmith as it would be in reality and each of these individual receivers have its own unique evolution.
The studio also provided some additional information regarding Weapon Vaults, which appear to be a method of using a weapon platform and maintaining the aesthetic throughout various attachments as opposed to having a range of different-looking attachments spread over blueprints.
During the Call of Duty: Next livestream announcement tomorrow, Activision promises to provide additional details regarding the Gunsmith, as well as details about multiplayer in Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0, Warzone Mobile, and other topics.
It will be interesting to see the reaction from the fans considering that they were pretty optimistic about the new release. If all of their expectations are met, and there isn’t a riot happening on the internet, Activision will have plenty of reasons to be happy in the following months.
On October 28, Modern Warfare 2 will be globally available for purchase.
