OpTic Texas has officially verified the most recent development in the 2023 roster crisis by acquiring CoD Challengers player Daniel #Ghosty Rothe in favor of outgoing Indervir #iLLeY Dhaliwal ahead of the online qualifications for the third Major of the Call of Duty League.
After a strong 2022 Challengers season, Ghosty was all set to join with the Florida Mutineers, but changed his mind “when OpTic started asking around about prospective amateur talent to bring into the fold,” according to a report from #JacobHale of 3Dexerto. After losing Javi #Vikul Milagro and Michael #MajorManiak Szymaniak, Florida is still deciding on its starting lineup.
The Upcoming Talent
Ghosty shone on the Boston Breach academy roster during his 2022 Challengers season in Vanguard.
Following OpTic's fourth-place result at Major Two during the previous weekend in Boston, this move was made. OpTic's heartbreaking loss to the L.A. Thieves in the last seconds of their match against them, despite the better outcome compared to Major One, clearly inspired the squad to make another significant adjustment this year.
OpTic Texas and its supporters have experienced a rollercoaster year, which was hailed as Seth #Scump Abner's last. Brandon #Dashy Otell left the club after having a disagreement with the coaching staff, however Scump's unexpected retirement in the middle of the season led to Dashy's return. Cuyler #Huke Garland joined the team from the Los Angeles Guerrillas.
According to CoD data website Breaking Point, ILLeY himself had a difficult Major Two, putting up some dismal results across all maps and finishing the event with a 0.83 overall K/D.
After temporarily doing the same at the beginning of the season until the team made the decision to run it back with both him and Dashy, he now enters restricted free agency.
On Saturday, February 18, Ghosty will likely make his OpTic debut with Shotzzy, Dashy, and Huke in a CDL Major Three online qualification match versus LAG.
