Overwatch – Big Changes For Florida Mayhem in 2023

For the 2018 Overwatch League season, West Region teams have begun to put together complete lineups, competing with one another to sign the top free agents still available from the large pool of applicants.

The Florida Mayhem decided to remove the curtain today and introduce its newest members after teasering fans for a few weeks by only revealing two names in the backdrop of earlier announcements.

The Toronto Defiant main support Sung #CH0R0NG Yoo-min and #FinnishDPS Paavo #Sauna Ulmanen will join the Mayhem for the 2023 season, the team announced today.

New Players Landing in Florida

Due to his work on the Defiant's backline last year, CH0R0NG is probably a well-known name to Overwatch League viewers; however, Sauna might not be. The teenage DPS has been playing on teams like Shu's Money Crew EU and Young and Beautiful for more than two years in the European Overwatch Contenders circuit.

Next year, both head coach Jordan #Gunba Graham and assistant coach Caleb #McGravy McGarvey will be back. They will be the team's only two coaches thus far.

The Mayhem, one of the few teams that retained some of its 2022 players on the payroll, completes its lineup with CH0R0NG and Sauna. The next year, Florida will be the destination for Tank Ham #Someone Jeong-wan, DPS Baek #Checkmate Seung-hun, and support Rupal Zaman.

The Houston Outlaws hitscan Choi #Mer1t Tae-min was also acquired by the Mayhem earlier this offseason in a cash swap transaction.

Florida's lineup in 2022 had a mix of seasoned and up-and-coming players from several nations who excelled despite being a budget team. Prior to being eliminated by the Hangzhou Spark, they finished with a regular season record of 12–12 and won a number of games in the postseason bracket.

It will be interesting to see how the latest additions to the team will adjust, and if they can “click” with other members. They have shown before that when they find their rhythm, they can be a formidable force to be dealt with.

One thing is sure, they will have plenty of opportunities in 2023 to show their skills and prove that the FM management made the right decision to add them to the roster.
